Back pain is the localised pain in the back. Backache is the aching or soreness in the back. In other words, they are really similar. What's the difference? Everything else! Backache may be caused by several disorders or diseases such as arthritis, slipped disc or even just muscle strain. It is not always due to back pain though; this is why it needs to be diagnosed by a doctor.
